We look forward to meeting you on your first visit to our office. During this time, we will help you get acquainted with our office and learn about your orthodontic treatment. We understand that each patient's orthodontic treatment is different, and we promise to give you the personal attention you deserve. Your first orthodontic visit will consist of:
- A screening exam. We generally start the first visit with a review of your medical history and your chief reason for seeking orthodontic care. After a thorough complimentary examination, Dr. Portalupi will discuss treatment recommendation and answer your questions regarding the orthodontic needs.
- If time permits and you are ready to begin treatment, we will try to complete your diagnostic records. The appointment takes approximately one hour and can be scheduled at a more convenient time.
- While we will always offer what Dr. Portalupi feels is the best treatment course, we will always offer treatment options and alternatives, and discuss the pros and cons, and benefits and risks of these options. Together, Dr. Portalupi, the patient, the parents, and their general dentist collaborate to come up with an individualized plan for each patient.
- We work closely with your general dentist, oral surgeon, periodontist, and any other professionals in planning and overseeing your care. We call this interdisciplinary care.
